On May 1, 1979, boards came off the windows of an abandoned mill building in Northbridge, Massachusetts.
This building would come alive with newly built machinery to produce a different material for making
lobster traps for New England lobstermen. The new material called Aquamesh®, Marine Mesh™ and Marinemesh™, was the first of its
kind and in December 1980 the first shipment was made to Maine.
Today, Aquamesh®, Marine Mesh™ and Marinemesh™ are used in making nearly 90% of the lobster traps in New England. Aquamesh, as well as
many other Riverdale products, is shipped all over the world.
Riverdale's other unique products include Geomesh gabions used in erosion control, SoftStep
flooring used in poultry farms and WireWall High Security Fencing.
Doing things differently allows us to save money. We're proud of reclaiming an old mill building for our
manufacturing plant, generating our own electricity via hydropower, heating our plant with captured
heat from our processes and by generating electricity with gas fired diesel generators. These are savings we pass on to our customers.
All of us at Riverdale Mills are committed to delivering excellence in service and product to our customers
as we continually strive to develop new and different products for them.
Sincerely,
